Hornkuhkase - Alpenhorn from Switzerland
Per Zuercher & Co., Hornkuhkase Alpenhorn is made in a small town in Switzerland, just west of Liechtenstein. It is no ordinary alpine cheese. The milk is that of horned cows and made in the town of Urnasch, where virtually all cows still have their horns.
It definitely has the flavors of a real deal alpine cheese. It's nutty and has a hint of that smell and taste of the highlands of Switzerland. However it is not stern as other Alpine Swiss cheeses, and seems very young in texture!
Regardless our recent batch was the best we have had all year!!
Hornkuhkase Alpenhorn grilled with French Ham and topped with a lightly dressed arugula!
