President Brie Log - Portable Charcuterie

Many a time I walk past the cheese area and think, "I am going to buy one of those logs one day!"  But what do you do with it?  It's too big for a lunch box.  I suppose you can slice the log and place in those pre made phyllo cups with a dollop of cranberry sauce or jam, heat it up in the oven to get it warmed through.  It may not do well in puff pastry with the small diameter of the cheese.  I guess just slice and eat.

Then it hit me that President Brie had California in mind when made these logs.  Rooted Californians love to have some wine with cheese, salami, and other nibbly things outdoors.  We grow enough produce to feed the US and we are damn proud of our heirloom fruits and veggies!  We have some of the most famous salami produced here as well don't forget other than world technology leaders, we are also leaders of wine production!

Californian's have been packing up mini charcuterie's for decades.  We take them to the parks.  We take them to the boardwalk for summer series concerts.  We take them to concerts at the wineries and we take them to the wineries to have with of course that wineries wine.  WE LOVE OUR CHARCUTERIES!

A good portable charcuterie can have all or some of the following!
  • Wine, beer, beverage's of choice
  • Salami(s)
  • Cheese(s)
  • Fruit and Nuts
  • Bread and/or crackers.
  • Non mayo/mayo based salads.  Vinaigrette based and pesto based pasta salads are ideal!  I have at times included fried chicken for those downtown San Jose gigs in the park!
  • Blanket or circa Sunset brand picnic blankets.  The latter are made with roll belts to roll up and a sling for your shoulder to carry.
  • Cutlery, napkins, plates, small charcuterie board, cheese knife and a small bag for your trash.  We love our state, keep it clean!

And any die hard Californian will have a California Innovations collection of back packs made specifically I feel for our love of toting or food and drink to the great outdoors, the wineries, the concerts.  The back pack part usually up top with a insulated cooler on the bottom.  I personally own eleven.  This is my circa 1998 pack usually like to take to much more casual locations like the Boardwalk, S.Bay concerts and Jazz Fest.  It's one of my first and my fave for the more rambunctious venues.  For the more posh venues, the wineries all circa CI totes 2001 to the present are a must.  They are the Range Rover's of the series, they look good and some even charge your phone!   Regardless portable charcuterie's are all you!  What you like!

REMEMBER LIFE IS TOO SHORT TO EAT BADLY!
